These instruments are simple, low-cost flutes designed with the beginner in mind. Meditatiion shakuhachi are inlaid at the blowing edge with a border of sterling silver and have a bore of natural bamboo. Less refined than the precision cast bore flute, this model is tuned to the Japanese pentatonic scale unless otherwise specified. While not recommended for formal study of shakuhachi honkyoku, these instruments are suitable for solo meditation. Made from torachiku (Tiger Bamboo) in standard 1.8' (5- and 7-holes as well as major scale Western tuning) in the Key of D, 1.6' Key of E, 2.0' Key of C and 2.1' Key of B, 2.4' Key of A and 2.8' Key of G.
