Harvesting Bamboo in Japan- 1997 / Page 8
Aburanuki is the process by which oil is removed from the green bamboo. The culm is heated over a charcoal fire, driving the resin to the surfice which is then wiped off with a rag. The bamboo turns from a dark to a light green color.
Kayo, fantastic at Japanese cuisine, tries her hand at aburnuki.
